Before the contest proper had started, our EEP professor (and one of my favorites) Miss Eliz delivered a welcoming speech which talked about the nature of the piece to be interpreted, "At Christmas" by Edgar Albert Guest, and some details about the culminating activities we had.
Then after that, the master of ceremonies of the program Sir Deeno took the stage and had a run-through of the contest mechanics. The order of presentation for the speech choir was then announced; it was in alphabetical order. That means the Accountancy blocks first followed by Business Management, Marketing and Advertising, and Tourism Management. We were so nervous because we were not prepared at all though we expected first and foremost that we won't make it in the top three. Well, that's a given. When we saw AC151's performance, we felt like we should back out already. We wanted to let them have the trophies for us. If we can't have them, at least AC151 has them. We won't let AC151 lose so we really have high hopes for them.
Each block's presentation was good and enjoyable, of course except for ours. REALLY, I'd like to forget those minutes when we presented. It was a nightmare before Christmas.
Moving on, every after one speech choir presentation, a speaker for the Ignite Speech contest will take the stage and deliver his/her speech. The topic was anything under the sun and their speeches were accompanied by the Powerpoint presentations they have prepared beforehand. Their speeches revealed parts of their life stories and perspectives. I congratulate them all for making it to the contest and thank them for sharing their pieces of information and stories.
After the contest proper was the grand awarding ceremony. This is where all the winners will be named and awarded with certificates, medals and trophies. To wrap the whole awarding ceremony, AC152 had no medals to bag and take home while AC151 had a lot. They had awardees in the three contests. We're happy for them. And I'm happy for Nicole Timbol of AC151 for making it to the top 3 for the Ignite Speech competition! I'm proud to be her co-officer (lol). Congrats, Nicole!
She's the one in white long-sleeved blouse. :)
And that concluded the culminating activity for the SoM English term. Too bad I wasn't able to have selfie photos with my English term professors as remembrance. The English term is the only term of our course which is not stressful. Thank you for the wonderful term, my dear English professors!
